  • Luke 6:27-38  (Read passage HERE)

One of the truisms of preaching is that generally people prefer sermons that include some clear application to our everyday lives.  It’s to do with how our minds work.  Some people like thinking in big terms: paint me a picture of where we want to end up and I can figure out the specific details, the how-to’s.  Some of you may think like that.  But most people in the world, prefer the concrete, the practical.  Their approach to sermons is closer to, “give me some examples of what I can do this coming week because I’m looking for clear and direct instruction.”

And then we read Jesus’ ‘love your enemies’ sermon and suddenly vague and general is a little more attractive!  (To read the rest of the sermon, please click HERE)
