We currently have four study opportunities running at HPC. One is a Bible Study, one is a ‘Stewards by Design’ class, the third is called Theology Café and the fourth is a Book Club.
The Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study gathers each week at 1:00 p.m. to focus on learning what God wants us to be and do in our world, but also to encourage friendship and fellowship. “God uses all manner of people in all manner of places doing all manner of work.” You don’t have to be ‘in ministry’ in order to serve God. In fact, God has placed you where you are for a purpose.
For ten weeks, beginning on April 3rd, this group will be studying the book of Nehemiah, which shows us the significant impact one individual can have on a nation.
‘Stewards by Design’ meets each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. as a follow-up of the November 2017 conference attended by Paddy Eastwood, Sherry Irvine, Joan Kerr and Susan Reaveley. This group is discussing what it means to be an effective church … specifically, the twelve keys that are evident in a strong, healthy congregation living in the grace of God.
Theology Café is a book club that meets once a month on the first Thursday at 10:00 a.m. for a lively theological discussion on books that address the issues of our time and enrich our understanding of the faith. In May we will delve into ‘Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in Our Busy Lives’ by Wayne Muller.
The Book Club meets on the last Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the church library. The members generally read one book a month then get together for discussion and fellowship. They try to alternate between Christian fiction and non-fiction books.
You’re always welcome to come and join in these groups.
