Local Outreach Ministries

SOUP AND SANDWICH
12 noon on the last Wednesday of every month, except for July and August. Bring your friends and join us for a delicious soup and sandwich luncheon and great fellowship.

BAILLIE HOUSE SERVICES
2:00 – 2:30pm on the first Sunday of each month. We welcome all who feel moved by the Spirit of God to come along and assist.

GLENWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
We participate in the lunch and reading programmes at the school.

COMMUNITY DINNERS
Every Friday evening at 6:00 pm, at Maple Ridge Community Church, we participate on a once a month basis, with other churches, to provide a hot, nutritious meal for people in our community who are unable, or struggle to make ends meet.  This includes seniors, unemployed, single moms and other vulnerable members in our neighbourhoods.

MIGRANT WORKERS
One of our members is involved in helping the seasonal migrant workers who come to work on the local berry farms. They face a variety of challenges, and we are glad that we can assist in practical ways – bicycles, clothing, suitcases …

Support

The congregation supports the following churches and organizations financially and through prayer:

MERCY TOUCH
As a Christian organization, Mercy Touch International exists “to share the Life and Love of Christ with the needy by ministering to them holistically—spirit, soul and body.”

Their goal in Zambia is to provide a safe and healthy environment for orphans and vulnerable children.

CARIBOO PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The mission of the Cariboo Presbyterian Church is “to reach out with the love of Christ to people who live in rural and remote areas of the Cariboo-Chilcotin region, beyond the reach of the traditional church.  This is being done by building up communities of Christian faith principally in areas where there is little or no other Christian witness.”

WOMANCARE
WomanCare is not a medical facility. The Maple Ridge office is staffed by a team of trained volunteers under the supervision of a Centre Director. Most volunteers do not have academic degrees in counselling, therefore the peer counselling provided is not intended as a substitute for professional counselling. To anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy they offer information, emotional and spiritual support, and practical help in a caring and respectful manner. All services are confidential and free.

SALVATION ARMY RIDGE MEADOWS MINISTRIES
The Salvation Army Ridge Meadows Ministries in Maple Ridge is “a safe haven where compassion and faith reveal that through the love of Jesus Christ all things are possible and healing begins. They point people to the life changing truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by: providing a  safe environment, nourishment, comfort and shelter to those in need without prejudice; encouraging those who feel there is no hope; and offering opportunities to discover God’s purpose for their lives. They walk beside those who come within their sphere of influence as they journey towards their full potential.”
