KATIE DAVIDSON
[Katie, born February 28, 2003, was injured in a tragic vehicle accident near Salmon Arm, BC, on January 7, 2005 that killed her father, the Rev. Kris Davidson, her mother Sheryl, and sister Lauren (9). The family were much-loved members of the Haney congregation -- Kris was ordained and inducted as our minister in March 2004, serving until his death in January 2005. Prior to the accident Katie was under medical care for a pre-existing serious heart condition that had been diagnosed before her first birthday. She is recovering well from her injuries and has been adopted by her mother’s brother’s family in Calgary.]
Winter 2010 Update
Katie Winter 2010 Update
Katie is almost seven and is in Grade 1. Everything takes her a little longer to learn but we're so proud of her for sticking to it and not giving up. She has gained soooooooo much in the last six months!
At the end of September, she participated in the Terry Fox walk at school and walked to the finish line which was approximately 2km. She is now reading and learning to spell. She can run and hop and jump! She is still involved in music lessons and started swimming lessons with assistance. Katie still has an aide at school and is followed by physio, occupational and language therapists that all help her with her special needs.
She now wears glasses for farsightedness. Her heart is still in the low normal range with her medications so it is not a concern at this time. Her seizures seem to be more under control now but are always a concern for us.
It is so hard to believe that the accident was five years ago. As you can imagine, we still miss Kris, Sheryl and Lauren very much. It is a joy for us to see how the three girls all get along. Alyssa always spends time with the younger ones and they love it when she plays school or other make believe games. All of this helps build Katie's confidence and her motor skills as well. We are looking forward to seeing evn more progress in the year ahead.

CHURCH STAFFING NEWS
PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
The Personnel Committe comprised of John Bell (Men's Group), Gerard Booy (Minister), Karin Breuer (Session), Zabeth du Toit (Women's Group), Lynda Gaudiuso (LEF), Dick Lyster (Board), Dave Newberry (Session), Andrew Newberry (Youth) and Rev. Francis Saville (Advisor) analyzed the results of the ministry emphasis survey and presented a report to the congregation on Sunday, November 15th. We believe that Jesus' invitation to let the children come to him is very relevant for us at this point in time. If we want to serve our children and youth well, we have to make sure that there is someone with the gifts, time, commitment and the support of the congregation to take responsibility for this special ministry.
Over the next three months please pray about our response to the financial implications of embarking on this ministry and how we should proceed.
