KATIE DAVIDSON
[Katie, born February 28, 2003, was injured in a tragic vehicle accident near Salmon Arm, BC, on January 7, 2005 that killed her father, the Rev. Kris Davidson, her mother Sheryl, and sister Lauren (9). The family were much-loved members of the Haney congregation -- Kris was ordained and inducted as our minister in March 2004, serving until his death in January 2005. Prior to the accident Katie was under medical care for a pre-existing serious heart condition that had been diagnosed before her first birthday. She is recovering well from her injuries and has been adopted by her mother’s brother’s family in Calgary.]

February 2012 Update
REPORT ON KATIE'S SURGERY: **
Katie had a left craniotomy on December 12th, to try and alleviate a problem caused by the injury she suffered almost seven years ago in the car accident. During the surgery they removed the temporal lobe, part of the frontal lobe, and part of the hippo campus –- all on the left side. Only time will tell if all of her functions work as they should following this surgery. We do hope and pray for a positive outcome now that the seizures are gone, to be able to concentrate, learn, and remember better, to give her a better quality of life.
** FEBRUARY 14, 2012 UPDATE
Katie had her 2 month follow up with an EEG to see how her brain is doing since the surgery. We are very excited to say that the doctors are thrilled with the outcome. Her brain activity is greatly improved. The doctor said that her EEG looks a hundred times better. There isn’t the constant spiking in her brain activity that showed in the previous tests. In the next 6 months plus we will look at slowly reducing her anti-seizure medications.
We had a feeling these would be good results since we noticed that since she returned to school full time January 9th, she has had much more energy and better focus. Katie has only asked for the odd nap during the day instead of previous daily requests. So she must be sleeping better at night now that her brain is less abnormally active.
We are very happy to share this news with all of you and thank you again for all your support and prayers. It is nice to know so many people hold Katie in their hearts.

ASCENSION DAY SERVICE
"King of kings and Lord of lords!" Join us Thursday evening, May 17th at 7:30 p.m. for a special evening service to celebrate the Ascension of Christ.
CELL CHURCHES ARE COMING!
For the past year our Session has carefully considered our theology of the Trinity and the Church. Looking at the way in which Jesus made disciples, they talked at length about various aspects of small group ministry, and discussed the merits of implementing cell-church ministry in the congregation.
Having spent a lot of time praying, studying and discussing it among ourselves, they are convinced that this is something that we in HPC are called to do.
“Cell-church ministry is an investment in relationships. God is love; God loves us; God commands us to love one another. And ‘love is nothing if not personal.’ We want to be intentional in building up the communion of saints in this congregation.”
We will be holding a number of Q&A sessions… the first one was on May 10th at the church. Later, potential leaders will be identified. And then an Open House will be held after church in September to share information and provide a sign up opportunity.
FESTIVAL OF PRAISE
The 13th annual Festival of Praise will be held in Langley Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon, May 27th, 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.. Everyone is invited to attend this afternoon of musical sharing by the choirs and instrumentalists from the Presbyterian churches of the central Fraser Valley. There is no admission charge.

LIFE 'N' WORK AT H.P.C.
Special presentations were made on Sunday, April 1st, to Dorothy Newman who recently retired as one of our Elders, and to Ellen Lewis who has retired as Choir Director.
On April 25th the choir shared a cake and presented a gift to choir member Ann Hamilton, who had temporarily stepped in to act as Choir Director when Ellen Lewis retired. Ann's help has been very much appreciated, but she is now returning to her home in Ontario, once again leaving the position vacant.
